Guest Post on Made to Mother: To the Mother of All Boys
I am guest blogging over at Made to Mother. It is a wonderful, uplifting blog and I am so excited to share a piece of my story over there. This is my first guest post on another blog and I have been walking on clouds all day because of it.
To the Mother of All Boys
I am a mother of three boys and I have always heard comments like:
Are you going to try for your girl?
Three boys…whoa…you must be tired.
Or that awful saying that goes something like this:
A son is a son until he takes him a wife. A daughter is your daughter for the rest of your life.
For the most part, these statements don’t bother me – well, maybe except for the last one…who wants to ever think their child will go off and never return? What a terrible thought, but the statements aren’t exactly encouraging or uplifting, either.
Recently though, I heard a comment about my boys that I continually turned around in my head until it seeped into my heart and made me feel like I could not possibly be blessed more than by being a mother of three sons. To read more click HERE.

There is just something about raising all boys. Yes, you get “The Comments.”
“Are you going to try for your girl?” (That question was recently asked of me while my three teen/teenage boys towered next to me. *No, I think we’re calling it done. But you made my day by implying that I’m young enough to still have babies.*) Or, “Wow – you must be tired.” (*That was sure negative to say. Still…let’s be clear – I am.*)
But, there’s something so crazy-special about being surrounded by men who love their momma. These boys are my entire world; and even though this website is for moms raising tweens and teens (stemming from my love of teaching high school), I find I can’t help by sometimes write about raising only sons.

Hey Cheryl! I came across your post through Wynter linking it to the Wine Down Wednesday Link party! It was perfect timing for me since I'm due any day to have our second child and the odds are that it will be another boy. Your post made me super excited for the possibility of that when everyone is hoping we have a girl. I'll honestly be excited for either but this helped when knowing everyone is hoping for a girl.

Congrats, Lena! Awesome that you are due any day to meet your new baby. I loved reading your thoughts so thank you so much for leaving a comment!
I was just gifted with this blog by another mother of 4 boys. I have three. We connected because her son, and my friend, died tragically a couple of years ago. I recently told her I always connected best with other mothers of all boys. And that couldn't be more true. My sons are now young men: 22, 19 and almost 16. I often got the "oh darn were you trying for the girl"? My answer was alwaus "I wasn't trying for anything but was given the best surprise of my life, and brown eyes". I loved this blog. And I wouldn't have what God dealt me any other way. Thank you! 🙂
