The Big Benefit of Saying Yes to Your Middle Schooler

(Inside: Parenting middle schoolers can be intense. But, I say yes to my middle schooler as much as possible because it has this one big benefit. Read on…)

Say “yes” to your middle schoolers.

Let their friends come over.
Grab soda from the gas station.
Browse through stores.
Bake cookies and brownies.

Take them and their crew to the ball game.

Listen as you taxi them to and from activities.
Drive to the lake to fish.
Laugh at funny videos together.
Take them on a mountain bike trail.

Middle school is a time of huge growth, and kids need lots of one-on-one time with their parents.

This builds a foundation for when you have to parent them through hard stuff like schoolwork, attitude, follow-through, and putting that always-out cereal bowl in the dishwasher.

So, say “yes” to your middle schoolers as much as possible.

Keep investing in that relationship. You’ll be glad that’s where you put your heart.
